Broker/Owner
Karen’s love affair with Sonoma’s wine country began in 1979. Karen and her husband were introduced to Sonoma’s gracious and serene lifestyle during their honeymoon. Upon returning home to southern California, the couple promptly packed everything and moved north. Karen has never regretted the decision, and for over fourth one years she has greatly enjoyed the beautiful countryside and the people who live here.
A resident of Geyserville, Karen has developed deep ties to her community through a wide range of volunteer activities, including her involvement with the Geyserville Chamber of Commerce (since 1980), Geyserville Community Foundation (since 2013), the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce (since 1983), Kiwanis Club and a variety of local and county-wide initiatives. These connections provide her with an insider’s view to important decisions and developments that affect property owners in the county and keep her up to date on the hottest local real estate opportunities and trends.
Karen earned her real estate license in 1980, her Broker's license in 1986, and then, in partnership with her husband Doug, opened an independent real estate office in 1987. Today, North County Properties is one of a small handful of independent agencies still active in Sonoma County. Karen attributes the success of her business to not only the solid referral network she’s developed over the years, but also to her willingness to provide insight and expertise to peers, property owners, and potential buyers, whether they are a client or not.
Karen truly enjoys working with new home buyers and seasoned investors alike, whether the search is for a condo in town or a quiet home in the country. And since country properties come with a variety of considerations not experienced in garden variety real estate transactions, Karen and her team have built a substantial depth of knowledge to share with potential buyers. With over 100 years combined experience in the area, Karen and her team are often consulted on complex transactions, particularly those concerning vineyard acquisitions, soil testing, water rights and well drilling, geological studies, lot splits and development.
Clients and community members describe Karen as warm, outgoing, friendly, dedicated and connected. But strong relationships and repeat business are not built on these attributes alone. The same people will also tell you that Karen is extremely knowledgeable, hardworking, on top of the details, and, above all, trustworthy. Karen is a tireless advocate for her clients; she takes great pride in knowing that every person she works with is completely satisfied at the end of the day – whether it’s a family finding their perfect home, a couple seeking their country retreat, or an individual searching for a dream vineyard property. When she’s not on the job, Karen loves to travel, scuba dive, and read on the beach. Closer to home, you’ll find her on the golf course or spending time entertaining friends and family. Karen is also a fan of the San Francisco Giants & SF Niner's and each year she looks forward to the new season. Go Giants & Go Niner's.
